LMW establishes India’s Largest Spinning Facility




Welspun India Limited (WIL), part of the US$ 3 billion Welspun Group unveiled its new spinning facility at Anjar in Gujarat on 6th December 2014. This facility of about 1.7 lakh spindles is India’s largest spinning facility under one roof. The project machinery order of estimated value of Rs. 100 crore was placed with Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW).

Welspun India which is considered among the top three home textile manufacturers in the world is the largest exporter of home textile products from India. This expansion plan of Anjar plant is part of a Rs 2500 crore investment aimed at growing textiles business in India.

The Spinning facility spread over a 2,500 acre township in Anjar was inaugurated by Gujarat chief minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel on Saturday, by switching on BALEPLUCKER LA23/S, LMW Blow Room machine followed by Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, minister of state for textiles, Government of India and Mr. Saurabh Patel, minister of finance, Government of Gujarat. The ceremony which was attended by 200 delegates, had representation from different fields such as Financial Institutions, Textile industry players, Machinery supplier representatives and various top heads of Welspun organization.

The cotton spinning facility at Anjar is set up for processing 60s, 80s, 100s and 120s fine count cotton. This LMW project of more than 200 machines was completed within a period of 12 months and consists of machines right from Card Sliver System to Ring Spinning System like     LC 361/363 Cards, LK64Z Combers and LR 9 AXL Ring frames. The successful execution of the project translated effectively through project consultancy services and dedicated customer service provided by Voltas, both during Pre and Post installation of machines.

The new facility will double spinning capacity to over 300,000 spindles, thereby fulfilling nearly 70 per cent of the internal yarn requirements of Welspun. Post the new facility, Welspun India envisages more emphasis on establishing better yarn quality and looks to LMW and Voltas for their continued support.

The project which stands as one of the World’s Best Cotton Spinning facility, brought LMW’s technological capabilities to the forefront and was hugely appreciated by Welspun’ s Group Chairman Mr. Bal Krishna Goenka and Director Mr. Rajesh Mandavewala.
